The Cologne Bonn Region is a metropolitan area in North Rhine-Westfalia, Germany.
The region covers the cities of Cologne, Bonn and Leverkusen, as well as the districts of Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis, Oberbergischer Kreis, Rhein-Erft-Kreis and Rhein-Sieg-Kreis, over an area of 3,839 km² with 3,13 million inhabitants.
The Cologne Bonn region is situated in the center of the middle European economic area. The region is marked by its economic strength and central location and therefore a significant part of the largest and most productive European economic area encompassing the substantial industrial regions of Europe extending from Great Britain to Northern Italy – the so called “blue banana”. Due to the Cologne Bonn region’s central location in Europe it is a highly attractive economic and investment location for numerous national and international businesses and investors from a wide array of sectors.
When talking about culture in Bonn, nearly everybody first thinks of music. The heritage of Ludwig van Beethoven, born here in 1770; the Beethoven Orchestra is one of the most important "ambassadors" of Bonn's culture, meanwhile successfully promoting the city’s musical image abroad. Bonn’s main attraction for art and culture amateurs from all over the world is the Museum Mile that counts more than one million visitors per year. Colognes culture comprises of the Cologne Cathedral, World Heritage Site, world-class museums, numerous theatres, the Philharmonic and Opera House which attract visitors from all over the world.
