Jetbird | Our Engine Partners Pratt & Whitney
Jetbird and Pratt & Whitney Canada | Introduction
Every second, a Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) powered aircraft takes off or lands somewhere in the world. Headquartered in Quebec Canada, P&WC power the largest fleet of business and regional aircraft and helicopters with over 44,000 engines around the world and boast 10,000+ operators in more than 190 countries. P&WC is shaping the future of business, helicopter and regional aviation with proven technology and dependable new generation engines. In 2005 Embraer selected the PW617F for Embraer Phenom 100 Very Light Jet, Jetbird chosen aircraft. This groundbreaking engine is powering a new generation of very light jets that promise to revolutionize air travel.

Jetbird and Pratt & Whitney | Performance
The engine selected for the Embraer Phenom 100 belongs to the PW600 engine series. Pratt & Whitney Canada’s PW600 engine series incorporate the latest advanced technologies in the drive to exceed customers’ expectations in performance, reliability, durability, fuel consumption and environmental friendliness. There are three distinct PW600 models currently available (PW610F, PW615F and PW617F) ranging in thrust from 950 to 1,780 pounds.
The PW600 is a two-spool engine with a two-stage high pressure compressor driven by a single-stage high pressure turbine and a single-stage low pressure turbine driving a robust, advanced technology fan. A high efficiency reverse-flow combustor ensures low emissions and fuel consumption. A high efficiency exhaust mixer further contributes to the engine family’s low fuel burn and noise. Furthermore, the latest Full-Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) provides reduced pilot workload and advanced engine health monitoring/diagnostics, assuring a high standard in aircraft dispatch availability. Special attention to “maintenance by design” enables fast access to engine externals and overnight, on-wing hot section refurbishment. The result is a compact, light weight design powering an impressive line of new generation very light business jets.
