Stefan Vilner | Chief Executive Officer

Stefan was previously Chief Commercial Officer at Sterling Airlines for four years where he was responsible for the airline’s revenue and yield management, advertising and branding, distribution and product development. Stefan headed the airline’s commercial efforts as they turned a business with combined losses of €120 million into a profitable company. Prior to joining Sterling, Stefan was involved in the start up and running of the London based, BA owned, low fares airline GO-Fly Ltd. Stefan was also President, and later Chairman, of the Executive Committee in ELFAA, the European Low Fares Airlines Association.

Finance

Carsten Dettmar | Chief Financial Officer

Carsten Dettmar is an alumni of Frankfurt’s Goethe University where he obtained the Degree of a Diplom Kaufmann. He started his career in Banking as Manager for Export and Project Finance with Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau in Frankfurt, before he joined Air Berlin in March 2001 as Head of Controlling and Aircraft Finance. Over the ensuing five years he was in charge of establishing and deepening relationships with various financial institutions and oversaw financial reporting procedures within the company. He was part of the team that took Air Berlin PLC public in 2006. In April 2006, Carsten became Head of Air Berlin’s newly established Treasury Department and was responsible for risk and cash management, as well as all the company’s financing activities. He continued to build up the department and was also involved in various M&A activities, notably the acquisitions of dba and LTU. Carsten joined Jetbird in 2008. 

Sales & Marketing

Matthew White | Commercial Coordinator

 

Matthew began in Jetbird in September 2008 as Commercial Coordinator. He previously worked as a Project Manager for the American Federation of Labour-Congress of Industrial Organisations (AFL-CIO) where he was based in Washington DC. During this period, Matt co-managed the allocation of the unions’ financial contributions to Senator Hillary Clintons Presidential Campaign and also spent 6 months as a lobbyist on Capital Hill where he co-initiated and directed focus groups with politicians and their staff regarding a diverse range of political issues. He also conducted a management project in association with Harvard College in Boston and presented the findings at the college in January 2008. Matt completed his Masters Degree in Business Management at the Michael Smurfit School of Business in 2006 and he was also a Sports Scholarship recipient for 4 years at University College Dublin where he completed his undergraduate.

 

Operations

 

Jennifer Fleming | Project Manager

Jennifer Fleming is an alumni of Dublin’s Trinity College where she obtained a 1st Class Honours Degree in Business, Economics and Social Sciences with a prestigious Gold Medal award. She also holds certifications from CTYI (DCU) in Psychology, Marketing and Legal Studies. She started her career with Arnotts Ltd in Dublin as Brand Manager for Tommy Hilfiger and over the next seven years with that company worked in logistics, supply chain management, business systems, buying, and concession contracts. Based in New Zealand from 2007, Jen was contracted to the Ministry of Justice as Programme Coordinator in Business Systems and most recently as Advisor to the National Operations Manager where she was heavily involved in project management, HR and finance.

Jen joined Jetbird in November 2008 as Project Manager working with our Operations and Maintenance teams.  

Information & Communications Technology

Darrell McCrone | Chief Information Officer 

Darrell is charged with overall responsibility for distribution, ICT, processes supporting the flow of information and technology infrastructure. Darrell joined Jetbird in October 2007 and was involved in an early stage analysing and developing the operations and commercial platform in addition to the regulatory compliance requirements. He previously started his career in Microsoft in the European Operations Centre in Dublin as IT Analyst, liaising and supporting channel partners throughout EMEA on all operational activity. Having studied Engineering with Management, he also gained valuable experience in both Air Contractors and SR Technics in Base Maintenance analyzing projects and systems namely TATEM Project – Technologies and Techniques for New Maintenance Concepts as well as rollout and adoption of a new Enterprise Resource Planning System.

Darrell has a passion for aviation and technology and was awarded the role of Microsoft Student Partner in 2005. It is for this reason that his focus at present in Jetbird is to ensure interoperability across operations, finance and commercial departments through the adoption of a unified common operational picture (COP) and the first release of our online flight booking system. Furthermore, he links technology to internal strategic capabilities and external strategic products and services and to forecast how technology will change competition and ensure the business can adapt.

Darrell is a member of a number of technological user groups including the Microsoft Technology User Group (MTUG) and the Interaction Design Association (IxDA).

Claret Capital

Dómhnal Slattery | Chairman

Dómhnal Slattery is the Chairman and Managing Partner of Claret Capital, a private equity fund based in Dublin and the Founder of Jetbird. Prior to the establishment of Claret Capital he was the Managing Director of the Structured Asset Finance business of the Royal Bank of Scotland, the world’s fifth largest bank. Based in Dublin and London he had direct responsibility for a number of global business lines with a combined balance sheet in excess of £25 billion including the bank’s commercial aviation and corporate aviation finance businesses. Dómhnal established RBS Aviation Capital in 2001, which today is the third largest commercial aircraft lessor in the world, with a committed fleet of 230 aircraft. In addition to his role in Claret Capital, Dómhnal is Chairman and Board Member of a number of companies, funds and councils in Ireland.
